Gonzaga and Virginia Poised for Dec. 26 Showdown

FORT WORTH, Texas (Dec. 17, 2020) – The top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs and the 17th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers will square off in a neutral site contest on Dec. 26 at 3 p.m. CT, the schools announced today. The game will take place at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

CBS Sports will broadcast and produce the game on the CBS Television Network. Chicago-based Intersport will lead the event operations.

This will be the fourth all-time meeting between the programs, and first since Jan. 3, 2007, a 108-87 Virginia victory. Gonzaga holds a 2-1 all-time edge in the series, earning an 86-85 first-round victory in the 2001 NCAA Tournament and an 80-69 win on Dec. 17, 2005.

The Bulldogs, 3-0 on the season, will face their fourth top-20 program of the season when they face Virginia, following Kansas (Nov. 26), West Virginia (Dec. 2) and Iowa (Saturday). The Cavaliers, 3-1 through their first five games of the season, wrap up non-conference play against the No. 1 Bulldogs before starting ACC play on Dec. 30.

A limited number of fans will be permitted to attend the Gonzaga-Virginia game on Dec. 26. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. CT on Friday. Tickets to the game will be sold in socially distanced groupings of 2-8 seats. The entire pod must be purchased by one individual and it may not be broken up for any reason.
